
RIDGEFIELD, WA— The Oly Town Artesians stunned the defending EPLWA Champions Vancouver Victory FC 2-1 on Tuesday night June 27 at Ridgefield Stadium. It was the first home loss of the season for Vancouver and paused their drive to repeat as title holders.

The Artesians (3-4-1) were without starting goalkeeper JJ Olson for the first 12 minutes of the match. While waiting for him to get through traffic defender / midfielder Kyle Wiese stepped into goal for Oly Town, being called upon to make two saves. Right after Olson arrived the visitors took a 1-0 lead on a corner kick from Gabriele Zaccagnini that was headed home by Blake McMillian in the 13th. It was 1-0 Artesians at the half.
Oly Town FC widened their lead in the 49th minute when JT Meyer looped one over the V2FC defense and past V2FC goalkeeper Marco Gonzalez for a 2-0 Artesians lead.
The Victory (4-2-1) responded with a goal from Nate Cheney in the 55th but they could not solve the Artesians defense the rest of the way.
