PORT ANGELES, WA— Seattle Stars FC won the annual “Rumble in the Rainforest” hosted by Peninsula College on Saturday April 22. The Stars won two 60-minute matches to finish unbeaten on the day. (Cover photo: Carlos Rodriguez in goal for Seattle Stars FC.)
In their first mini-match (30 minute halves) the Stars beat fellow Evergreen Premier League side Olympic Force 2-0.
Later Seattle took on nationally-ranked hosts Peninsula Pirates and the two sides produced an exciting back and forth match. In the closing stages both teams had shots across goal. It was Seattle that would create the winner – a nifty bit of teamwork that ended with a cool finish from Brandon Gonzalez (Auburn Riverside High School). Seattle won it, 2-1.
The Force lost their earlier match against Peninsula in the tournament, 3-1.

Olympic and Seattle also played in the women’s portion of the Rumble. The Northwest Premier League (NWPL) sides for both clubs played each other and the PCC Women. In those matches the Stars topped the Force 2-0 and played Peninsula down to the wire before surrendering a late penalty kick in a 1-0 loss. Earlier the Pirates had beaten the Force 2-0.
The host PCC Women took their side of the tournament with the two wins over the NWPL sides.
