BREMERTON, WA—The Olympic Force took another step towards building an Evergreen Premier League roster on Sunday night at Gordon Field in Bremerton as they held invitational tryouts to get a better look at around 30 players. Force head coach Kevin Skinner and his assistants, Kris Lowry and Casey Collins, evaluated the talent along with GM Micah McMonagle.
The Force are part of a recent movement in Kitsap to collaborate with fellow clubs at various levels. A couple of the players at the tryouts were sent over by the PDL Kitsap Pumas from their scouting process. There were also guys from last year’s WestSound FC Men’s team that has morphed into this year’s Olympic Force.
One of the invitees was Robert Benson, who once played for Olympic College and eventually traveled to Europe to play in a Dutch league.
The Force staff expressed high hopes for a solid season. They also say part of the plan is to schedule as many pre-season friendlies as possible to get the new team a better chance at cohesion by the time the Force make their Evergreen Premier League debut Saturday May 2 at home against Vancouver Victory FC.
Watch for video interviews of the Force staff, scheduled to be posted soon.
