TUKWILA, WA— Seattle Stars FC scored a 5-1 win over Wenatchee on Sunday night June 29 at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.
The victory-starved Stars won their second match of the season—both over Wenatchee United FC. The Capitals had played the night before up in Bellingham, losing there 4-2.
Seattle went from warm to hot midway through the first half. The Stars scored three times over an eleven minute stretch. It began in the 22nd minute when Wyatt Hill put the home side up 1-0. It was his second strike of the year.
In the 30th minute Buba Jammeh made it 2-0 Seattle on his third goal of the season.
The first half scoring burst was completed in the 33rd minute when Dario Meza made it 3-0. Meza has three goals on the year.
Wenatchee United tried to regroup at the half but things only got worse for the visitors.
Rafael Marquez made it 4-0 in the 47th (his first) and Rob Lansche completed the Seattle scoring to make it 5-0 in the 50th minute. It was Lansche’s third goal of the year.
Wenatchee broke the shut out in the 60th minute on a strike from Christian Nyanfore, his second of the season.
The win lifts the Stars (2-7-1, 7 points) out of last place while the result knocks Wenatchee (4-7, 12 points) back to sixth place.
