The Evergreen Premier League will hold its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) the second weekend in January 2014 in Wenatchee. Representatives for all eight clubs are expected to attend and the real-life tasks of running a soccer season get underway. Before we look ahead to what is planned for the meeting, let’s take a quick look back at what has happened so far.
- July 12, 2013: Opinion article at website goalWA.net encourages idea of statewide league, suggests name Evergreen Premier League
- July 19, 2013: The Evergreen Premier League starts taking applications to measure interest
- August 5, 2013: The people behind the movement to form a league hold a conference call for interested clubs. 23 groups show interest. 16 groups officially apply.
- August 6, 2013: Bellingham United FC leaves the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) to help found the EPLWA
- August 9, 2013: South Sound FC of Tacoma jumps in to co-found the league
- August 12, 2013: Wenatchee United FC are approved to bring premier adult soccer to the center of the state
- August 13, 2013: Seattle Stars FC are admitted into the EPLWA
- August 14, 2013: WestSound FC accepted into league as member for Kitsap area
- August 15, 2013: FC Three Rivers Tri-Cities joins as adult premier men’s soccer arrives in Pasco
- August 19, 2013: Spokane SC Shadow will bring back the Shadow Men in the EPLWA
- August 21, 2013: EPLWA names ‘Hooligan Ron’ as liaison between league and supporters
- August 25, 2013: FC3 hits the ground running with a series of player announcements
- September 3, 2013: Vancouver Victory FC comes in as the 8th and final first-season club
- September 7, 2013: Evergreen Premier League confirms official logo
- September 14, 2013: South Sound FC holds a town hall meeting
- September 22, 2013: FC3 holds their first-ever open tryouts
- September 23, 2013: Seattle Stars FC unveil new kits and sponsor
- September 24, 2013: EPLWA officially affiliates with the Washington State Adult Soccer Association
- October 23, 2013: Wenatchee United FC commits to broadcasting matches, hires play-by-play guy
- October 27, 2013: FC3 reveals their crest
- November 26, 2013: Seattle Stars FC win Starfire Premier League Fall Championship
- November 26, 2013: Shadow hire their GM
- December 4, 2013: Vancouver Victory FC announce coaching staff
- December 10, 2013: Shadow announce assistant coach
- December 13, 2013: goalWA.net announced as Official Media Partner of EPLWA
- December 16, 2013: Ruffneck Scarves announced as Official Scarves Partner of EPLWA
- January 4, 2014: Vancouver Victory FC reveal their crest
- January 4-5, 2014: EPLWA President attends USASA Region IV Annual Meeting
- January 8, 2014: Wenatchee United FC hires first GM
Those are some of the bigger moments so far. On January 10-11 in Wenatchee the league and club representatives will begin the process of staffing various committees that will oversee the league operations and will attempt a working draft of the 2014 season schedule, among other things. For many it will be the first time seeing each other face-to-face, and the first gathering of minds since the conference call half a year ago. EPLWA President Peter Ostrovsky and League Administrator Robin Gordon will oversee the AGM.
